What is Golden Hour and what do we do?
We strive to provide you with a great choice, but not overwhelm you. There is no need to have hundreds of acts on offer, when we have the best handpicked musicians and bands available to book with us.
Can the band play songs that I choose?
All wedding ceremony line ups offer custom set lists so you choose the songs if you would like to, or you can choose from an already vast song list.
…Overall, we’re always happy to discuss song choice for all events and occasions and accommodate where we can.
Will our band play our 1st dance live?
Absolutely, most of our live bands offer this within their fee. Although some bands will charge a small amount to cover their time when learning and rehearsing a song that is not already in their repertoire.
What do we need to provide for the band?
We ask that all acts are supplied with a free supply of soft drinks for the duration of their stay with you. For bookings over three hours (from arrival time), our Terms & Conditions request the act to join in with a buffet or hot meal for the duration of the contract, and are supplied with a free supply of soft drinks.

What is a ‘DJ Service?'
A ‘DJ Service’ is an additional service you can book with most of our live bands and acts, where music will be provided in-between live sets. A pre-mixed playlist, provided by one of the band members is played before, in-between and after the live music. You can send some song choices to be included or complete playlists to be played through the band’s sound system. There are no song requests taken on the night, or announcements made. Your ‘DJ Services’ may be unmanned, but your party will be in full swing!
For a fully comprehensive DJ experience, you can book one of our professional, live DJ’s to come along with the band, where they will mix live on the night, take requests and make announcements.
How much space do the band require and how long will they take to set up?
The space required varies from act to act and will be discussed with you throughout the enquiry process. The time it takes to set up is also dependent on the musicians or band. For live bands we say between 60-90 minutes, but this may vary should their access, load in or parking be more difficult. Smaller ensembles may take less than 60 minutes, and will be discussed with you upon enquiry.
What’s the booking process?
We will gather a few details to include on your booking contract and invoice. You will be sent your electronic contract to read and sign, along with your digital deposit invoice. Once both have been received, your booking is confirmed, your date is secure and you can put a very large tick next to LIVE MUSIC on your wedding list.
Do you have Public Liability insurance?
Yes, we have Public Liability insurance. We also provide PAT test certificates where required, which show the electrical equipment we bring into the venue has been checked and certified safe. Certificates available on request.

What are your payment terms?
Our deposit is 50% of your total fee. Payment via BACs is due within 14 days of booking. Your remaining balance is due up to 14 days prior to your wedding date.
What information do you need from our venue?
For information related to your venue, including access, parking, Insurance etc. we liaise directly with the venue to save you the trouble. This includes sending them our PAT and PLI certificates.
After we have booked with you, what are the next steps?
You have confirmed your booking, your contract is signed and deposit invoice paid…
After that, you can relax for a while. We will schedule in a catch up around a month before the big day, so we can finalise timings and all details. Please get in touch at any time before that though, we are always here for you and any questions you may have. Don’t forget to follow us on our socials, this is a great way to interact with us and see what’s going on at our weddings, events and behind the scenes too!
Can my band perform outside?
Of course, we love alfresco events! We ask there be a safe and sufficient mains plug source within 20metres or an extended plug source nearby, should the act you have booked require amplification. Also included in our Ts & Cs is the requirement for sufficient shade or shelter, this is to protect from all weather conditions, especially direct sun, to ensure your live band are protected and their equipment and instruments remain undamaged.
From start to finish Golden Hour were a pleasure to work with! I booked a band through them for an event at Powderham Castle and they were brilliant. They got everyone involved and made the night feel like we really were in the 1920’s! I also hired the company the following year and booked a different band who were incredible.
Thank you so much!
